There’s no reason to let your Dirndl and Lederhosen gather dust in the closet; Kitchener-Waterloo Oktoberfest is STILL happening! From live virtual events to restaurant specials and donation drives, there are many ways to get involved in this year’s festivities.

First, Make Your Haus Look More Wunderbar!

There’s no reason Oktoberfest can’t come to you! Grab your blue checkered table cloth, streamers and feathered hats and your house will be looking festive in no time. Don’t forget the fresh-baked pretzels from Grainharvest! You can also take a shot at German cooking with free online culinary classes on Kitchener-Waterloo Oktoberfest’s Facebook page.

Support Local

Support local in the best way possible… eating! You can find “Micro-Festhallens” taking place at restaurants throughout the Region with live entertainment, Oktoberfest-themed food specials, drink pairings and prizes. If you’re looking to bring Oktoberfest home to your kool haus, Bingemans is offering curbside takeout with all the traditional favourites including potato and cheese pierogis, Oktoberfest sausage and mustard, pork schnitzel and more! Check out Bavarian Feast or Grill Box so you can enjoy the tastes of Oktoberfest from home. You can view the full list of all participating restaurants here.

Live Virtual Events

While you’re enjoying your delicious pork schnitzel at home, don’t miss out on the entertainment portion! Tune into Kitchener-Waterloo Oktoberfest LIVE on Friday, October 9th and Saturday, October 10th for Oktoberfest themed entertainment for the whole family – you can sign up for free tickets to the live stream here. Close off the festivities with CTV’s parade special on October 12th; you can even enter to win a parade special viewing party for you and your friends!

Don’t Forget to Give Back

Kitchener-Waterloo Oktoberfest is great for our community because it plays a huge role in providing the Food Bank of Waterloo Region with the supplies they need to assist families throughout the year. The annual Onkel Hans Food Drive raised over 67,000 meals for over 34,000 people last year! Let’s not make 2020 any different! Donate online to support families that have been greatly impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. Every dollar counts!

Stay safe and have fun…. Prost!
