Knit sweaters, big blankets and all the pumpkin spice candles your heart desires; fall is here, and Thanksgiving is just around the corner! Get inspired by our Design Studio experts who have rounded up their favourite interior design trends that will help transition your home in time for Thanksgiving weekend!
1) Pumpkins Everywhere!
Felt pumpkins have become an increasingly popular design trend. You can place them on your dining table during Thanksgiving, on display on a bookshelf, or place them throughout your home for a subtle touch. You can find these handmade decorations on Etsy.
Pro Tip: Love pumpkins but not a fan of orange? Fall decor doesn’t always have to include traditional colours; painting pumpkins a colour that works with your current décor is fun and easy!
2) Fall Flower Arrangements
If you love classic fall colours, change your flowers and vases to red, yellow and orange tones. You can purchase beautiful fall flower arrangements at Charmed Flowers in Waterloo. If you prefer a subtler look, dried flowers are an excellent option! Local lifestyle boutique shop, The Girl Floral, offers an assortment of dried flowers that can be delivered right to your front door.
3) Cozy Accessories
A chunky knitted blanket is a must-have if you want to be extra cozy (it also looks super cute perfectly “thrown” on the couch). Add in warm tone throw pillows to create a cozy space where you, your knit blanket and a good book can relax and unwind after eating (and cleaning up) a delicious Thanksgiving meal. You will find these items are part of The Art of Home’s new fall arrivals collection!
Pro Tip: look for pillows with different textures and patterns to really spice things up. Plaid is great for Fall!
4) Autumn Candles
While you’re all curled up on the couch, you can’t go wrong with a pumpkin scented candle. Sweet & Spice all-natural soy wax candles have 19 different fall collection candles and offer free porch drop off in Kitchener, Waterloo, Cambridge and Guelph.
Pro Tip: If you’re sensitive to scents, get crafty! Fill a glass jar with leaves and place a battery tealight inside for a beautiful autumn glow.
5) Front Porch Decor
You can’t forget about greeting your guests! Welcome your social bubble into your home with an arrangement of various sized pumpkins, gourds and twinkle lights. Tie it all together with a colourful wreath on your front door from your local garden centre and you’re set for the season!
