Key Responsibilities

Safety:

• Follow established safety procedures and use personal protective equipment as required.
• Always complete tasks in a safe manner.
• Promptly report hazards, unsafe conditions, or incidents to supervisors.
• Participate in health and safety training and meetings.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety training and reporting requirements
• Work together with co-workers, supervisors and trade partners to maintain a safe workplace and promote a positive safety culture on site.

General:

• Support site operations through diligent and quality workmanship in various hands-on construction tasks including but not limited to:
  • Finish carpentry and trim installation/adjustments
  • Drywall repairs and patching
  • Painting, touch-ups and finishing work
  • Caulking and finishing details
  • Door and hardware adjustments
  • Cabinet and millwork adjustments
  • Minor flooring repairs
  • Other miscellaneous construction activities
• Complete repairs and deficiency corrections identified through Quality Assurance inspections, pre-delivery inspections, general site inspections, and TARION 30-Day forms.
• Maintain effective communication and provide progress updates to supervisors, trade partners, and homeowners as required.
• Promote a positive company image through professional and respectful interactions with homeowners, trade partners and coworkers.
• Maintain company-owned equipment, vehicles and tools in a safe, clean, and operational condition, and report any repair or replacement needs in a timely manner.
• Travel to multiple job sites within Waterloo Region may be required
• Other duties assigned within the spirit and scope of the role.

Requirements

• 3+ years of residential construction experience in a hands-on role involving carpentry, finishing work, deficiency repairs, renovations, or related construction activities.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, construction drawings, specifications, and site plans.
• Demonstrated knowledge of residential construction methods, and applicable local, provincial, and federal regulations, codes, and legislation.
• Basic ability to use a smartphone, access company email, navigate Microsoft applications, and complete required online training programs.
• Valid Class G driver’s license and reliable transportation to travel between construction sites if required.
• Health and Safety certifications, including First Aid, WHMIS, Working at Heights, and Elevated Lift, are considered assets.
• Physically fit and able to lift up to 50 lb.
• Demonstrated ability to safely and effectively use common construction hand and power tools.
• Must provide, maintain, and safely use the hand and power tools required to perform the duties of the position, including but not limited to a hammer, utility knife, tape measure, level, chalk line, skill saw, and cordless drill.

The successful candidate will be required to produce a satisfactory Criminal Record Check and Judicial Matters Check in the original format and dated within one (1) month of the conditional offer from Activa group of companies.
