SAFETY AT ACTIVA:
Workplace safety is a core aspect of the Labourer role, requiring active participation in hazard prevention, compliance with safety procedures, the appropriate use of personal protective equipment & championing a positive safety culture on our construction sites.

ROLE SUMMARY:
Labourers are responsible for assisting the Site Supervisor by performing tasks involving physical labour on our construction sites to ensure construction details & deadlines are met in a safe, timely & quality workmanship manner. Activa Labourers are safety conscious, have a strong work ethic, are reliable & are able to follow instructions accurately and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

Safety:

  • Work together with co-workers, supervisors & trade partners to maintain a safe workplace & promote a positive safety culture on site.
  • Follow established safety procedures & use personal protective equipment as required.
  • Always complete tasks in a safe manner.
  • Participate in health & safety training & meetings.
  • Promptly report hazards, unsafe conditions, or incidents to supervisors.

General Construction:

  • Provide support to Site Supervisor through various hands-on construction & site tasks including but not limited to:
  • Installing floor protection coverings
  • Installing guardrails & ramps
  • Ensuring access to units under construction are cleared of snow & ice. This requires the use of a shovel & salting as required.
  • If trained to do so, setting up & checking propane heaters.
  • Move tools, equipment, & construction material to & from site work areas.
  • Load & unload site vehicle(s) with supplies, equipment & construction material.
  • Daily clean-up of houses & site including preparing houses for trades by sweeping & cleaning up debris in a timely manner to ensure proper housekeeping is always maintained.
  • Complete other general construction labour tasks as assigned by the Site Supervisor
  • Operate site vehicle, if applicable & accurately maintain site vehicle log
  • Operate company provided hand & power tools, if required.
  • Travel to multiple job sites, if required
  • Perform other duties as assigned within the spirit & scope of the role.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Two years related construction experience
  • Valid driver’s license with clean driving record
  • WHMIS, Working at Heights, Elevated Lift, First Aid & other valid safety certifications are considered assets.
  • Physically fit & able to lift up to 50 lb.

The successful candidate will be required to produce a satisfactory Criminal Record Check & Judicial Matters Check in the original format dated within one (1) month of the conditional offer from Activa group of companies.
