LOCAL HOMEBUILDER WINS NATIONAL AWARD FOR SECOND YEAR
Activa receives the prestigious ENERGY STAR® Canada for New Homes award from Natural Resources Canada

Waterloo Region (June 23, 2020) –

Activa, the leading homebuilder in Kitchener-Waterloo, is pleased to announce that they have won an award from Natural Resources Canada for the second consecutive year: ENERGY STAR Canada for New Homes Builder of the Year – Large Volume category. Last year, Activa also took home the award, ENERGY STAR Canada for New Homes – Promotional Excellence.

The award, which is part of the ENERGY STAR Canada program, recognizes Activa’s commitment to building high-performing, ENERGY STAR certified homes across Waterloo Region that are better for the environment and more comfortable for homeowners; as well as their commitment to providing training and education for their staff, trades, homeowners and the public. Activa in the only builder within the Waterloo Region to win an ENERGY STAR award from NRCAN over the past two years.

Activa builds ENERGY STAR certified homes to create a healthier, energy-efficient, and sustainable place to live for their homeowners. These homes are healthier due to improved air-sealing, which reduces drafts, dust, pollen and noise within the home. Homes also are less expensive to heat and cool due to the high-performance energy efficiency of the homes’ mechanical systems and triple-glazed windows. As part of the ENERGY STAR certification, each home undergoes additional third-party inspections to ensure they are at least 20% more efficient than homes built to standard Building Code.

National Resources of Canada recognized Activa for its successes in:

  • Building over 15% more ENERGY STAR certified homes than in 2018
  • Training over 25 tradespeople, in addition to their staff, about their ENERGY STAR building package
  • Featuring the ENERGY STAR logo and information on promotional materials, video, model homes, sales offices and more.

Each year, ENERGY STAR Canada recognizes participants who demonstrate excellence, and winners are recognized as being the best in their class. Winners are selected from its 1,500+ participants based on activities that advance the energy efficiency market transformation in Canada.
