Key Responsibilities

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Safety:

• Follow all established safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Perform all tasks in a safe and responsible manner.
• Promptly report hazards, unsafe conditions, near misses, injuries or accidents to the supervisor.
• Participate in required health and safety meetings and training sessions.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment, including job sites, tools, and equipment.
• Ensure compliance with the Occupational Health & Safety Act, Regulations for Construction Projects, and all applicable legislation.
• Safely operate, inspect, and report any issues with tools, machinery, and equipment.
• Work collaboratively with coworkers, operators and supervisors to promote and uphold a positive safety culture on site.
• Follow company health and safety policies and procedures at all times.

Excavation Labourer:

• Play an active role in storm, sewer, and water installations, as well as excavation and backfilling activities as assigned.
• Keep excavation work area and service truck clean and organized.
• Perform grading with laser equipment in a safe and accurate manner.
• Safely operate, inspect, and maintain tools, equipment, and company vehicles in accordance with training and company procedures, including completing required logs.
• Support backfilling operations, including manual tasks such as raking and shoveling and assist with operating the diesel plate compactor.
• Perform work outdoors in all weather conditions alongside heavy equipment.
• Maintain a professional and respectful presence on job sites
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Secondary school diploma
• 2 years previous experience in an excavation/construction labour role is an asset.
• Valid G- class Driver’s License and reliable transportation is required.
• Knowledge of excavation and backfilling practices is an asset
• Ability to safely operate a variety of tools and equipment such as saws, lasers, and drills.
• Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting, carrying, bending, and working in and around excavations.
