The Finishing Site Supervisor is responsible for Managing the Construction of units from drywall to completion while ensuring construction project details and deadlines are met in a timely and quality workmanship manner. Specific tasks include ensuring all quality assurance inspection, pre-delivery inspection, and 30 day deficiencies are repaired and in excellent working order prior to owner occupancy, by directing sub-trades; providing hands on assistance in various construction activities around the construction site; and assuming the role of Site Supervisor when the Site Supervisor is temporarily absent.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with creating and supervision of finishing schedule from drywall though to occupancy
  • Schedule and oversee warrant deficiencies included but not limited to QA, PDI and 30 Day
  • Ensure high standards of workmanship and efficiency
  • Assist with the maintenance of effective onsite communications and progress reporting with sub-trades and clients
  • Assist Site Supervisor in temporary and supportive supervision of on-site sub-trades, providing direction to site workers
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety training and reporting requirements
  • Travel to multiple job sites will be required; use of personal vehicle is required
  • Supply and use of own personal tools required for completion of miscellaneous construction and site tasks
  • Where used, ensure company vehicle and provided tools are maintained in a safe operational condition and the security of the vehicle and its contents remain a top priority

Supervision

  • Ensures construction work is being carried out in accordance with drawings, specifications, zoning/building bylaws, OBC and company policy
  • Coordinate each sub-trade to ensure smooth and continuous on site progress and ensure workmanship is satisfactory and the proper materials are used
  • Arrange for miscellaneous labour as required to complete project and sign off on time cards as needed
  • Order materials as necessary to complete project and return packing slips to office administration
  • Manage usage of company tools and assets and ensure safekeeping of same
  • Provide leadership, instruction and supervision to all construction workers, including site staff, contractors and suppliers as well as visitors to site
  • Assist in housekeeping and ensuring a secure site
  • Other duties as assigned within the spirit and the scope of the role

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in an assistant supervisor role or equivalent for commercial and/or residential construction projects
  • Organized and effective in dealing with conflict resolution and people management
  • A solid understanding of all construction trades and construction techniques
  • First Aid skills and/or certificates considered an asset
  • WHMIS, Working at Heights, Elevated Life and other typical safety certifications
  • Ability to read blueprints, schematics, field drawings and plans
  • Knowledge of local, provincial and federal workplace compliance regulations, ordinances and legislation
  • Basic computer skills (i.e. Windows Office)
  • Valid driver’s license with clean driving record
  • Able to life up to 50 lbs
