Reports To: Manager, Continuous Improvement & IST Infrastructure

Location: Waterloo, Ontario

The Training Specialist, Continuous Improvement is responsible for the management and administration of employee education programs such as but not limited to cyber security, ERP, and other software education. The role is also responsible for supporting the Continuous Improvement and IST team as a whole in the pursuit of our corporate goals. This will include a variety of tasks on a number of diverse and impactful initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Participate in the planning, analysis and delivery of various training and education programs
  • Utilizing Activa’s education platform and other available resources to achieve program goals and objectives
  • Crafting a comprehensive program using training videos, newsposts, quizzes, games, and simulations
  • Present program statuses and findings to the appropriate audiences including senior management
  • Collaborate with the ERP team to understand ERP functionality and business education requirements
  • Collaborate with the cyber incident response team to create relevant training plans and materials
  • Create and distribute necessary documentation, training, and guidance to project stakeholders on other Continuous Improvement initiatives
  • Coordinate and facilitate training sessions as required
  • Provide knowledge and expertise on effective training principles and practices to other business leaders when appropriate
  • Provide administrative support to the Continuous Improvement and IST team on various initiatives and operational tasks
  • Participate in planning and execution of activities designed to develop and promote a Continuous Improvement culture across the organization


  • A Diploma / bachelors degree in training and development, human resources, project management, or another related field preferred
  • Experience in a role involving training or development would be an asset
  • Experience with project/program management an asset
