The Assistant Site Supervisor is responsible for assisting the Construction Manager/Site Supervisor in ensuring construction project details and deadlines are met in a timely and quality workmanship manner. Specific tasks include ensuring all pre-delivery inspection and 30 day deficiencies are repaired and in excellent working order prior to owner occupancy, either by directing sub-trades or through direct hands-on labour; assisting in various construction activities around the construction site; and assuming the role of Site Supervisor when the Site Supervisor is temporarily absent.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide support to Site Supervisor/Construction Manager through various hands on construction and site tasks (including carpentry, trim work, various repairs, deficiency corrections and other miscellaneous construction activities)
  • Schedule and oversee pre-delivery inspection deficiencies
  • Ensure high standards of workmanship and efficiency
  • Assist with the maintenance of effective onsite communications and progress reporting with sub-trades and clients
  • Assist Site Supervisor in temporary and supportive supervision of on-site subtrades, providing direction to site workers
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety training and reporting requirements
  • Travel to multiple job sites will be required; use of personal vehicle may be required
  • Supply and use of own personal tools required for completion of miscellaneous construction and site tasks
  • Where used, ensure company vehicle and provided tools are maintained in a safe operational condition and the security of the vehicle and its contents remain a top priority

Requirements

  • Journeyman or equivalent qualifications
  • 5+ years’ experience as a construction worker
  • Ability to read blueprints, schematics, field drawings and plans
  • A solid understanding of all construction trades and construction techniques
  • Knowledge of local, provincial and federal workplace compliance regulations, ordinances and legislation
  • First Aid skills and/or certificates are considered assets
  • Valid driver’s license with clean driving record
  • WHMIS, Working at Heights, Elevated Lift and other typical safety certifications
  • Physically fit and able to lift up to 50 lb.
