Reports To: Accounting Coordinator, Accounts Payable & Finance

Location: Waterloo, Ontario

The Accounting Assistant, Accounts Payable reports to the Accounting Coordinator, AP & Finance and is responsible for recordkeeping and the processing of accounts payable related paperwork within the Company.

Key Responsibilities

  • Verify documentation of all invoices for construction projects and other expenditures, using three-way match to verify invoice validity where applicable
  • Ensures appropriate signing authority and approvals on invoices
  • Coding and entering data into accounting systems for invoice processing
  • Ensures cheque issuance is completed accurately and timely
  • Maintain files for vendors, purchase orders, open accounts payable and closed accounts payable
  • Process or otherwise provide assistance on other general accounting items as required
  • Other duties as assigned


  • 2 years relevant A/P experience required; experience in the construction industry considered an asset
  • Good organizational skills and the ability to prioritize work to meet deadlines
  • Able to function in a team environment
  • Aware of commonly used accounting concepts, practices and procedures used in an office environment
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite Products, with strong Microsoft Excel skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
